Activities: The purpose of the mission was to assist in the establishment of a shellfish sanitation programme to enable export authorisation of
products produced by oyster growers and mussel farmers. This mission
reviewed the model programme and put it into operation with sampling,
monitoring, analysis and inspection procedures.
Activities included:- Review existing plan and progress to
implementation; Design a specific programme of environmental
sampling, monitoring & analysis; Establish procedures for the
inspection, sampling and analysis of shellfish products of the Namibian
aquaculture industry; Assist in drafting a manual of Good Hygiene
Practice; Audits of GHP and HACCP; Carry out risk-based transparent
controls; Procedures for approving fish establishments.
